This post is for submitting issues for Aegis Force to be involved in, whether crimes to solve, imPorts to train, or conflicts to mediate. Submitters are asked to provide details of what's going on, who is involved, what leads are available, and what outcome they and other players involved would like to see from Aegis' intervention. Any members looking for something to do will then respond to the submission and volunteer their characters to be attached to the case, and plotting will proceed from there.
Cases involving NPCs or acts of nature can also be created by players within Aegis Force looking to create new mini-plots and CR-building opportunities! Just bear in mind that major events or anything involving death will require mod approval at the PLOTTING POST. Also bear in mind that as a pilot project, Aegis' scope of authority is currently restricted: investigations are limited to only cases involving imPorts, metahumans, or national security issues. Agents are not expected to focus on mysteries involving run-of-the-mill murders or petty theft, for instance, although they are not penalized if they intervene in such crimes while encountering them on patrol.

WHO IS INVOLVED: The OTO is a global threat, and affects all imPorts.
HOW IS AEGIS GETTING INVOLVED: Mainly as investigators, but also on-hand to respond to further crises as needed. Aegis does not have a monopoly on this mission, and many imPorts are involved in anti-OTO efforts.
INFORMATION AVAILABLE: The Otherworld Technologies Organization (OTO) is a powerful entity formed by defectors from the government that has engaged in terrorism against imPorts and ordinary people to advance dangerous cutting-edge scientific research. The OTO is not a monolithic faction, and appears to be divided between different cells and aligned corporations with different ideas and goals. In past events they've attacked with artificial monsters, cloned imPorts, killer satellites, blackouts, robots, and even a secret base with nuclear weaponry in orbit around Mars (since destroyed, along with most of the moon of Phobos).
Their resources and influence appear to be immense, and at this time they are not considered a criminal or terrorist organization by the world's governments, and still do business legally. They also appear to be in contact with Atropos. Current OTO projects may include research into metahuman abilities and attempts to politically sway other countries.
As more information has emerged regarding the two apparent main factions within the OTO, Aegis Force has established the following codenames to help distinguish between them:
Otis refers to the elements of the OTO who favour less destructive and more scientific methods, whose goal is to send all imPorts home, and who appear to be open to communication with imPorts and even cooperation on their multidimensional research. 'Otis' has been linked to anti-government vandalism and mysterious messages in Maurtia Falls, soliciting imPorts to spy on the government for them, and a failed Porter experiment in De Chima which caused the 'Shimmer' disaster that claimed 600 lives. Their communication and actions suggests a reckless approach to pursuing knowledge at any cost.
Otto refers to the more militant elements of the OTO who seek the total destruction of imPorts and their allies. They are considered extreme even within the OTO. They established a network of combat satellites in Earth orbit and a secret nuclear base on the moon of Phobos, in orbit around Mars, and attempted to destroy Heropa. These assets have since been destroyed, but it's known that 'Otto' continues to pursue horrifying and dangerous experiments into creating new metahuman powers. All attempts to negotiate with this faction have thus far failed.
While these subfactions have different approaches to their goal of a world without imPorts, they are not in true conflict with each other. Each faction has its own set of corporations aligned with it, like Pandora for 'Otis' and Perrault for 'Otto' (both currently defunct). Both of them have been in contact with Atropos in search of her aid for their agendas.
These codenames will be updated if and when more facets of the OTO emerge. Current Aegis policy is to remain open to communication with 'Otis' while seeking to neutralize 'Otto,' but to combat any dangerous action by any element of the OTO that could threaten lives, and continue publicizing the OTO's threat to help sway global authorities toward recognizing the organization as a criminal entity.

Against Atropos

WHO IS INVOLVED: Everyone in the damn universe
HOW IS AEGIS GETTING INVOLVED: Currently as investigators attempting to find out more about this threat.
INFORMATION AVAILABLE: Communications on the Network have revealed that the supernatural entity known as 'Atropos' is present in this universe. Atropos was responsible for the destruction of another dimension inhabited by imPorts, with very few survivors escaping to this version of Earth. Atropos' location, capabilities and intentions are currently unknown, but it can be assumed she is hostile and an apocalyptic threat, and that she is linked to the OTO (see Casefile: Opposing OTO).
Gaining more information on Atropos and ways to protect Earth from her is a top priority. Currently available leads below:

-Post by Ruka, a survivor of the previous universe destroyed by Atropos

HOW IS AEGIS GETTING INVOLVED: Investigation
INFORMATION AVAILABLE: The Dark Brotherhood is anonymously advertising its services with some regularity on the network. They state openly that they're contract killers, summonable by a dark ritual involving the flesh and bones of sapients. No players have yet taken them up on this and they've not publicly claimed any murders as Brotherhood work, but both Finn and Lucien have been getting contracts from NPCs who've done the ritual. Because they kill stealthily and only do two contracts a month each, the mods have declared the police will not notice/get involved unless the situation changes.
These two assassins are keeping their work and public lives separate. Both of them seem to be nice, friendly people in public, and it's not an act! Finn especially is a sweetie. Linking them to their crimes is not necessarily going to be simple, but there's an obvious way to start investigating: The anonymous representatives of the Brotherhood are also quite talkative and willing to answer questions on their network posts, so information gathering can be done rather more directly than usual. There's also definitely NPCs out there who have done the ritual and had a man in black robes show up in their house at night to talk contract negotiations.
DESIRED OUTCOME: Flexible! However, Lucien's more open for targeting than Finn, partly for character reasons: if he catches wind of investigators closing in on Finn, he will do what he can to throw them off, up to and including taking the fall for his brother.

Date: 2018-08-15 06:40 pm (UTC)The only known issues they have with other bands of killers are based on religious scisms! Other illegal organizations regardless of their services seem to be at least tolerated, though there's probably some negotiations that happen behind the scenes on occasion.
Beyond that, they do recruit other murderers, but as far as we know they don't tend to target people who make a profession out of it already. They might be willing to work together on certain things, but only if it doesn't compromise their security.

WHO IS INVOLVED: Armitage Hux, Aegis Force
HOW IS AEGIS GETTING INVOLVED: Investigators
INFORMATION AVAILABLE: Jacob caught Hux trying to buy ricin.Hux works as a freelance consultant in De Chima. His office is listed and easily found. He doesn't advertise- he gets clients through word of mouth so it may be more difficult to find them. He took over Constellation after Dooku's downfall- there is plenty of talk about 'Regulus' especially around Maurtia Falls who has a network of minions who do his dirty work.
He lives way outside of De Chima- it may be more difficult to track the property title since he tried to hide it but with some research, it should be able to be uncovered. He and Kylo Ren may still be known as allies but some close to them know that is no longer the case. Hux is also known to be pretty nasty to certain people from his galaxy such as Poe Dameron, Finn, Bodhi Rook, etc. He has also never hidden the fact that he destroyed entire star system of five planets.
DESIRED OUTCOME: Hux will be setting a snake on Bodhi Rook which will kill him- he won't be directly connected to it (snake is sneaky) but honestly, Poe and others will just assume it's him. I'm alright him getting arrested and perhaps having to do probation, community service things, etc. He has a lawyer, Chauncy Anderson, who may be able to prevent a harsher sentence.
