THE HEADQUARTERS: HELIX STATION, MAURTIA FALLS

Helix Station was constructed in 2015 by then-Ambassador Revan [personal profile] exsithstential as an imPort redoubt. It later became the headquarters of the RISE team that was Aegis Force's predecessor. As part of Aegis' establishment, Helix has been heavily renovated and revamped with the following features:

-Helix's general appearance remains the same: a gleaming white high-tech retro-aesthetic citadel in the heart of Maurtia Falls. Unlike the linked picture, Helix is surrounded not by green space but by civilian businesses and residences, some of which were abandoned or sold after being damaged in previous sieges of Helix Station.
-No longer a community center or office space, it is exclusively a fortified HQ that serves as an emergency civilian shelter in times of crisis
-Outer walls and entrances remain fortified and reinforced, with medieval-esque parapets and firing ports for defenders to engage attackers from. No additional defenses are being added in this renovation.
-The roof of Helix is flat and features a helipad. The top floor also features a small, power-nulled brig for temporarily holding superpowered prisoners, before transferring them to government custody.
-The main entrance to Helix leads to a spacious lobby which can double as a party room for public gatherings, or a kill zone in case of intrusion. Entering the lobby requires passing a security checkpoint and presenting oneself to the reception desk for processing.
-There is a vehicle bay on the ground floor, next to the armory/gear room.
-Helix features a small but efficient infirmary that can also double as a research lab for technical work.
-The base's central Command Centre on the second floor features an interactive holographic map and display screens feeding information from government and media channels as well as the imPort Network
-Next to the Command Centre is the Commander's Office, a personal work space for Aegis Force's leader
-Base security systems include biometric locks, alarm systems, security cameras, fire suppression, and lockdown protocols in case of an alarm
-The base's basement is an Emergency Shelter with capacity enough to comfortably accommodate THREE HUNDRED people.
-Also on the basement, Helix features a stockpile with food, medical supplies, and other disaster relief items in case of emergency, as well as a backup generator and systems so it can keep operating in case of a blackout.
-While it is not mandatory, team members can stay overnight at Helix or even make the Base their full-time home if they wish. It contains spartan but tidy shared personnel quarters for up to TWENTY people.
-There's a kitchenette on the second floor, but no designated cafeteria- members are on their own for cooking!
-Also on the second floor is the team rec room for Aegis Force movie nights and ping-pong matches, featuring a sizable reading library as well
-Toward the back of the ground floor is the training area, featuring a small gym, a firing range, a sparring area, and a DANGER ROOM based on technology from the Maria-Francis Institute. Like its counterpart, the Danger Room uses holographic projections to create highly realistic yet generally safe training situations. All training areas are reinforced to handle the stress of powers in play.
-Matches, the unofficial Aegis Force mascot, lives at Helix Station and is universally agreed to be a Very Good Girl.

SPACE WATCH: PANOPLY STATION, EARTH ORBIT

Panoply Station is not a large or glamorous place to be, but it serves a vital role in Earth's protection. Established after a series of spaceborne threats in 2018, Panoply is Aegis Force's monitoring outpost for providing early warning against future threats from the sky. This ten-metre-long tin can may be Earth's first line of defense against future acts of annihilation. In the wake of a lessened threat from space, Panoply has been downgraded to an unmanned listening post, a largely automated and unarmed sensor platform, ready to sound the alarm for Earth if any danger from the stars emerges again. Aegis members may still sometimes be assigned to maintain Panoply, a lonely and dangerous task accomplished via government shuttle flight.

THE PUBLIC FACE: PRESS RELEASES

Press Releases from Aegis Force appear in the Majority Report each month, usually on the 20th unless something major is transpiring earlier in the month. Press Releases give the public information on Aegis' activities, provide warnings and instructions in times of emergency, and solicit for recruits and information on ongoing cases. If you would like your character's deeds to be mentioned in a Press Release, fill out the form below in response to this post:
