Want your character to join Aegis Force, or just want to check who is currently on the team? You've come to the right place! Information on this page can be treated as common IC knowledge: Aegis strives for transparency by keeping its roster public, although agents can maintain codenames and secret identities if they wish. Be advised that at this time, sign-ups for Aegis are ICly and OOCly capped at a maximum of fifteen characters. There are currently eight characters on the team. Additionally, a maximum of four characters from the same canon can be on the team at any given time.
Sign-ups for Aegis are open to any Registered Hero imPort - due to its government funding, Aegis is a Registered-only team! All applicants will have to pass a training exam for their chosen role, as well as an ethics test, a psychological evaluation, a background check, and the contacting of at least two character references (who can be imPort or native). They can also volunteer to undertake a lie detector test or psychic scan to verify their trustworthiness, or to share their government-provided personal file to verify their details, but this is not mandatory.
ImPorts with criminal pasts can join the team, but only if their evaluators are satisfied they have fully mended their ways and don't pose a risk. Characters can volunteer to administer these evaluations and tests to new recruits. Evaluations and tests can be played out or handwaved according to player preference. Once accepted, recruits may be paired with a welcome buddy to help them acclimate to the team- if you're interested in your character participating in this, sign up here!
When signing a character up, players must select the role(s) a character plays in the team and their regular duties they have, as well as whether they are an unpaid part time volunteer who sets their own hours and missions, or a full time employee who is paid a salary and benefits, but must accept assignments. If Aegis is to be your character's full-time job, remember to note it as such on the jobs post! Aegis members can organize themselves into units and partnerships within the broader force.
For example, Ashley is listed as having a Command/Tactical role, meaning she is both a leader in the team and a combat expert who defeats enemies in the field. This does not exclude her technical expertise in maintaining weapons, but summarizes her primary expertise in Aegis Force. She has Response and Investigation duties and is a full time employee.
Roles
Roles pertain to what a character brings to the team, their areas of strength and specialty. They are descriptive, not restrictive: there's no rule that says a Tactical agent can't rescue people or a Diplomatic agent can't fight! A character can fill 1-3 roles. A non-exhaustive list of potential roles includes:- Command: A character in a position of authority helping run the team, requiring a significant OOC commitment from the player responsible.
- Diplomacy: Focused on communications tasks and peaceful resolutions. A role for negotiators, counselors, and liaisons.
- Humanitarian: Focused on medicine, rescue, and providing assistance to those in need.A role for medics, aid workers, and healers.
- Intel: Focused on obtaining information and evidence. A role for detectives, scouts, and spies.
- Internal: In charge of enforcing Aegis' Code of Conduct, guarding against corruption and abuse of authority within the team, and evaluating prospective recruits.
- Mentor: A training and teaching specialist who both helps keep the team sharp and assists other characters in mastering their powers.
- Support: A general category for those who provide backup to other team members in different ways, such as administration, office work, or maintenance.
- Tactical: Focused on defeating enemies in combat. A role for warriors, soldiers, and bruisers.
- Tech: Focused on researching, developing and repairing the team's gear and conducting scientific investigations.
- Trainee: A supervised probationary status for novice heroes, agents under 18, or those with questionable qualifications/background. More experienced agents are responsible for their mentoring keeping them safe in dangerous situations.
Duties
Duties pertain to a character's regular, standing responsibilities in the team. They can be any mixture of:- Patrol: Make a regular circuit of an area within Maurtia Falls on the lookout for crimes to stop or people who need help. Part time volunteers can set their own schedule for a patrol, but full time agents are expected to be out there weekly if not daily if they are on patrol duty.
- Investigation: Actively pursue information on crimes and mysteries with the goal of bringing a suspect(s) to justice and resolving a case. See the casefile page for available cases, or feel free to create your own.
- Response: Staying on standby in Helix Station or Panoply Station, monitoring media and emergency services channels, ready to rapidly deploy if a crisis develops or a mission is assigned by the government.
- Mediation: Proactively resolve conflicts in the imPort community and beyond through diplomacy and communication. ImPorts may bring their disputes to Aegis for mediation, or Aegis may proactively offer its services when tensions are spotted. The goal is to manage enmity between imPorts and prevent pointless feuds and revenge violence. Mediation also includes offering training to imPorts who want to better control their powers, and to allied heroes looking to hone their skills.

OUTFIT: Stormtrooper armor
ABILITIES:
• Summon Stormtrooper equipment: His full load-out can be selectively summoned to him. This includes his armor, blaster rifle, one thermal detonator, and two medkits with bacta (healing substance), combat stims, and other supplies for basic trauma care.
• Improbably good aim: Applies to both shots taken and thrown objects. Target must be within range, within sight, and not have any preternatural dodging or mind-altering powers active.
• Electricity channeling: Basically Sith lightning powers.
• Stormtrooper infantry sergeant training: He will dive straight into danger to complete his objectives, with no regard for personal cost. If the only option to get the job done is to die, he will do it. He has two years experience guarding a high-value target, and is quick to notice and react to perceived threats.
ROLES: Tactical, Internal, Mentor (for combat)
DUTIES: Patrol, Response
EVALUATION RESULTS: All these can be played out if desired, but I think the last two or three may be especially important to making sure he fits in.
• His electricity powers are currently underdeveloped due to a past trauma.
• Any combat sims or exams for tactical will show a willingness to take big risks with his own safety more often than is advisable.
• His ethics check is going to come up with some issues due to, well, being a brainwashed soldier for an evil empire. He agrees that civilians should be protected, and feels strongly about those who deliberately put them at risk. But at the same time, he sees no contradiction in following orders that will result in civilian casualties to complete an objective.
• He will volunteer for a psychic scan, which is going to show some weird things if they come up: He has been heavily conditioned, past what's normally possible with propaganda alone. His mind is stuck in certain patterns regarding ethics, the rule of law, the Empire he's from, and his place in the universe.
• 622 is twelve and a half years old. Due to accelerated aging, he's physically and mentally 25, but this caused some legal issues at his government-assigned job when he first showed up in MoM. This is definitely going to show up on his application.
OTHER NOTES: 622 has been desperate to use his skills, but by Imperial law he couldn't serve another government's military or police force without authorization. This is his chance to get back to some sense of normalcy, so he really wants to make this work.
If at all possible, he'd like to not be given solo assignments. Being isolated has been psychologically hard on him, and he freely acknowledges that he does a lot better when he works with others.
